The Crowdy Head Lighthouse sits within the Crowdy Head National Park. From the area around the Lighthouse experience the panoramic views north beyond Diamond Head and to the south see as far as Seal Rocks. During May to July whales are often seen in the area as they migrate north to warmer waters, and again during August to October.
Improve your golf swing at the Harrington Waters Golf Course, a 9 hole course with 18 separate tees and is a par 72. Designed around natural waters and lakes, the course is challenging but suitable for players of all levels. The Club House Cafe offering light meals and snacks is also a perfect spot to relax after a day on the green.
Diamond Head located in Crowdy Bay National Park and is thought to draw its name from the way it sparkles in the sunlight due to the quartz crystals in the cliffs. The Diamond Head loop walk is a great way to experience the wonder of this national park. The walk takes around 2 hours and passes through forests and sandy beaches as well as offering exceptional views from Kylie’s lookout.
Club Harrington offers not only men and women’s lawn bowls but a host of social events and live music on most Friday and Saturday nights. The club runs its own family-friendly bistro that serves modern Australian Cuisine.
Well worth the drive to Port Macquarie to visit the award winning Billabong Zoo. You can get up-close and personal to Australian and exotic animals in this friendly 10 acre Koala and Wildlife Park. Cattai Wetlands is a hidden gem about 10 minutes’ drive out of Harrington. With over 180 species of birds, kangaroo’s, wallabies and goannas and many walking tracks this award winning coastal wetland is a must see.
Just a 5min drive to Crowdy Head boat ramp, where you have access to many ocean sand flats, offshore bombies & reefs, all rich in fish stock of flathead, snapper & lobsters. 30km to the continental shelf for deep sea fish like marlin, tuna, spotted mackerel & dolphin fish.
Km’s of pristine beaches for long walks, 4WD friendly & great to get away for a secluded picnic or fishing trip. There are also good surf breaks to suit beginners & more experienced riders. Crowdy Bay Beach is patrolled through the warmer season and provides a calm and safe environment for families and small children to get their toes wet.
Harrington is renowned for being “on the bite” all year round. Whether you like to have your toes in the sand chasing the tailor and jewfish, or enjoy the thrill of rock fishing catching groper and drummer, or you prefer to throw a line off the break wall and go after the flat head, bream and luderick, Harrington really has it all when it comes to fishing.
Harrington is surrounded by lush national park and rainforests making it an ideal bird watchers paradise. With over 200 species of birds including Sacred Kingfisher, Striped and White Cheeked Honeyeaters, Masked Lapwings and Short-tailed and Wedge-tailed Shearwaters to name a few.
Well worth the 90min drive from Harrington Ellenborough Falls is one of the longest single drop waterfall in the southern hemisphere. Enjoy the picturesque views of the 200m free fall drop from the lookout at the top, or take the timbered walkway (641 steps) to the bottom of the falls.
